Getting ready for the summer

It is a warm though cloudy day, I am outside enjoying the smell of spring and albeit I am yet still in a long sleeved shirt and long pants - summer is just around the corner! Let's run through the quick list of ideas of what we all need to get ready for the summer!

Your body may feel a bit tired. Beauty begins deep inside of us. Long dark days full of things that must be done just wear us out. Also, the level of vitamins is lower - our diet is not as fresh in the winter, and just the sheer lack of sunshine and time outside takes its toll on our whole system. It may be a good idea, unless you've done it recently, to ask your GP for a blood test and see if you are low on any vitamins or minerals.

Your skin spent months on end being wrapped up! How about a wake-up treatment with a gentle scrub & oil? Consider a scrub in the shower, paying special attention to areas of thicker skin such as elbows, knees, back of your arms and thighs, and your back. Now turn off the water and massage nurturing oil into the still wet skin, as oil is absorbd best when your skin is moist, and then rinse or blot whatever extra oil there is.

This will leave your skin soft and rejuvenated! As oil is very slippery, it may be a good idea to throw an old towl under your feet while working with it.

Your feet have been stuck in boots and other closed shoes. A pedicure may be a great idea! If you, like me, don't love pedicures ( I'm way too ticklish! ), maybe consider a D.I.Y. alternative. Begin with a good scrub and, if needed, special treatment for cracked heels. Next, a foot mask or treatment with special foot cream. A clean cut to your toenails and a beautiful nail polish, could be colour or clear, will make your feet look ready for summer, be it stilettos or easy flip-flops!

How about a refreshed version of your closet? Go through your wardrobe and take

your time considering what you need to keep at your fingertips and what may need to be packed away. You will surely need some sweaters, long-sleeved shirts and comfy shawls, but a lot of heavier clothes, boots, coats, as well as thicker-fabric pants and skirts may have to make room for summer-y outfits! Use the opportunity to take care of any items you are putting away: consider dry cleaning for woolen clothes, leather treatment for boots and bags etc. Then, pack them away with love, so you'll enjoy getting them back later in the year. Now, maybe use the opportunity to wipe down your wardrobe and install a light source to better see your collection inside.

At last, prepare your soul! Summer reading, summer music, summer foods... Summer is when nature is full of energy: the radiant sun, a loud thunderstorm, and the happy buzzing of bees! Stack up on whatever makes you happy and gives you positive energy! Add those summer songs and change your playlist, add a happy podcast to your list or buy some summer books for your bed-side table. Sooth yourself with smells of lavender soap or new fresh perfume. Get ready for the colorful, joyful season of flowers, rains and rainbows!

Wishing you all a happy summer in effortless style!
