I absolutely love Winter Holidays!! Such needed downtime ...with family at the table, with a book and a cookie, a movie and some snacks. Yes, you get the idea. That all is welcoming to a little belly, a little more belly than I'd like to show. As we are waiting for the new workout routine to show results, here are simple styling tricks to feel great immediately:
1. Don't cover with bulky clothes. If you like bulky style- wear large sleeves, generous scarf, wide leg pants- all of which are also very fashionable in 2021, by the way! Yet choose styles that are rather hugging around the waist.
2. Use same color tops and bottoms. A line where color changes attracts attention, and same color smoothens your middle.
3. No extra folds and pockets. All that extra material just adds pounds. Consider plain skirts and flat front, no pleat pants.
4. Wear materials that are firm but not stiff to create smooth surface. Too soft material will throw creases. Too stiff material will create bulk.
5. Avoid sparkly, shiny or bright colored material around the middle. Anything that reflects light seems larger. Dark, muted colors and mat finish absorbs light and works to your advantage.
6. Choose where to draw attention. People want to see you, so decide what to show off! Maybe the beautiful neckline with a sparkly necklace or a strong-colored scarf? Maybe it's your wrists with a great watch, bracelet or interesting sleeve shape and a colorful cuff? What about your legs? Often women who easily collect weight around the middle have very shapely legs!
7. Careful with patterns: Stripes or lines top to bottom stretch your figure, patterns that are rounded such as flowers, or stripes that go across your body add width. Yet watch-out with stripes - it needs to fit well, to avoid kinks and stretching, which will again, add width.
8. Don't point to your belly with jewelry hanging right down to it, cross-body bags or bright shiny belts.
9. Consider shape-wear - made to help shape, it can not only make you look great, but also known to support posture.
10. My last and most powerful tip: Great posture will easily remove a few pounds and will help your new workout routine work faster too!
