Wearable energy for you and the planet

The energy crisis in Europe is imminent. Today is a beautiful day in Geneva, yet the worry about long, cold winter and recession is out there. While I cannot solve the crisis for any of the global economies, here are a few suggestions against feeling cold and depressed in the upcoming darker months of the year.

  1. Keep warm in natural materials! Consider layering cotton or silk with wool and you will find the most comfortable, breathable and skin-friendly warmth. Wool and silk is a very powerful combination. Silk is very breathable and it transports moisture well off your skin, which is why people like it in summer. However, silk can also be very warm as its smooth fiber lays in perfect connection to keep warm air inside. If you layer it with wool on top, that quality will strengthen without losing any of silk's natural breathability and skin comfort. This also works very well for people with very sensitive skin.

  2. Follow up-cycling trend for the benefit of the planet! Got some old clothes that you don't like anymore? Consider adding a few new details, for example combining it with new accessories or - if you are brave - just cut them up and sew pieces of old clothes onto one another in new and unique combinations! After all, what's the worst that can happen, you're not wearing that piece anyhow! :)

  3. Use color for extra bit of energy! Color contrast will alway project energy! We all feel a bit warmer and more energetic in radiating red, juicy pink, warm yellow and spicy orange! Go on, try them on and be amazed by how well you'll fit the season!

  4. Inspired and adventurous? Here is an ultimate challenge to benefit your creativity, the planet, and the communities around you. Listen to the amazing TedTalk by Jessi Arrington, who wears nothing new, quite literally! (5.5 min).
